The LMU Latino Alumni Association is a legacy of the Mexican American Alumni Association.
A core group of Mexican American alumni with the goal of providing scholarships to deserving Latino students at LMU formed a coalition to accomplish this objective. Calling this newly formed organization the Mexican American Alumni Association, it would grow and be best known to all as MAAA. In 2011, we updated our name to the LMU Latino Alumni Association but with the same goals and objectives that our founding members had in 1981. Our community continues to be committed to transforming the lives of Latino students in their pursuit of a quality education, ensuring LMU is accessible and affordable for all. With the support of alumni, friends and corporate sponsors, as well as the support of the university through a 2:1 match in scholarship award dollars, we have awarded more than 1,400 scholarships for more than $3 million since 1981. It is in this tradition that the LMU Latino Alumni Association continues to provide much needed scholarship support, professional networking and mentorship opportunities to future generations of Latino leaders.
