Eric E. Castelblanco, ’86

A native of Bogota, Colombia, Eric E. Castelblanco was raised in Los Angeles. He attended Loyola Marymount University where he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting and subsequently licensed as a Certified Public Accountant in California. After working as a CPA for KPMG’s San Francisco office, Mr. Castelblanco attended Harvard Law School where he received his Juris Doctor degree in 1991.
Mr. Castelblanco worked from 1991-93 as an associate at Pillsbury Madison & Sutro in Los Angeles and thereafter as an associate at Alschuler Grossman & Pines until 1995.
In 1995, Mr. Castelblanco started Law Offices of Eric E. Castelblanco, which eventually became Castelblanco Law Group, APLC and has six attorneys with 10 support staff in Studio City, California. Since founding his firm, Mr. Castelblanco has represented more than 10,000 tenants living in medium–to-large residential multi-family apartment complexes in the greater Los Angeles area. Mr. Castelblanco focuses his law practice on assisting tenants suffering the effects of living in substandard housing conditions and taking slumlords to court for a variety of grievances related to unsanitary, unhealthful or unsafe conditions. Over 10 years Mr. Castelblanco successfully secured more than $80 million for his clients in verdicts and settlements from irresponsible landlords.
Mr. Castelblanco also has an entrepreneurial spirit, having started nine businesses. In 2005, Mr. Castelblanco co-founded a shredding company in Phoenix, Arizona. PDShred is now the largest privately-owned shredding company in Arizona serving hospitals, banks, and other businesses throughout the state.
Mr. Castelblanco works closely with numerous nonprofit organizations in Los Angeles fighting for better housing conditions. Most recently, Mr. Castelblanco was recognized as a “Housing Champion” by the nonprofit group Inquilinos Unidos (“United Tenants”). He is a member of Entrepreneurs Organization (a global business organization) for the past seven years and currently sits on the Board of Directors for the EO Los Angeles North Chapter. Mr. Castelblanco also sits on the Harvard Law School Leadership Council.
