Tell Us Why this Organization/Cause is Important to You or the Nominee
Humble Design changes lives and communities by custom designing and fully furnishing home interiors for individuals, families, and veterans emerging from homelessness. We have served over 10,000 individuals with dignity using donations from the community and the design vision of interior designers. One year later, 98 percent of our families are still in their homes, compared to a national average of 50 percent without our services. This efficacy is astounding. Humble Design is a missing link in the continuum of homelessness. During my time on the national board and as the chair of the trustees, we have expanded nationally from Detroit to Chicago, San Diego, Cleveland, and Seattle.
I love this mission because it has an immediate, tangible impact on people. It begins as a kind gesture of charity that leads to togetherness and moves toward justice. Our client families feel the power of equity. Moms can take a deep breath and experience respite in the safety and beauty of a home curated for them. Kids can finally rest and find comfort in a hopeful future.
