Georgia Buxton ’18 and Connor Johnson ’17

Couple at soccer game

I was a little surprised, to say the least, when a very handsome stranger approached me between classes in UHall my sophomore year.

I was in a bit of a rush to get to my class on the other side of campus, but I’m glad I gave Connor my time that day. He said he had seen me around (I later found out he first spotted me at After Sunset) and wanted to introduce himself.

We got coffee the following week in the midst of finals and I was smitten at the meeting. Our romance bloomed over the summer when I was in town for a few more weeks to be an orientation leader. I was set to study abroad in London the next semester, but we didn’t let the thousands of miles between us slow our growth. I watched nearly every LMU soccer game during that time, even if it meant waking up at 2 am GMT to see the stream.

We reunited in the spring and participated in all of the usual undergraduate things. I continued to attend his games and he was my date to every formal. I got to see him graduate and he saw me do the same a year later. Since leaving LMU, we have lived in multiple different cities together and just this January... he proposed! Almost 5 years after our first date, we are engaged. We have so many precious memories from our time together at LMU and are so grateful for the experiences we shared and the friends we made.
