“Every love story is beautiful, but ours is my favorite.”
It all started at the Birds Nest Pool when I first laid eyes on my future husband! We did not meet that day, but I was smitten by his smile and wondered as a junior why I had never seen him before. Then three days later, on October 10, 1991, we would meet at an ASLMU fundraiser. I was dared by my roommate Lori Swann to ask him out on a date, so I did! What developed from there was a fantastic night out on the Queen Mary for the annual LMU Belles dance, followed by a magical LMU romance until Rob’s graduation in May 1992.
My favorite memories of falling in love were more LMU Belles date nights, frequent outings on the bluff and to the beach and holding hands at Sunday evening masses.
The most ironic part of our meeting was learning that we were both from Philadelphia, which was rare back then. We learned that we grew up about 10 miles from each other before I would move to New Jersey, which was still just a short 1.5 hour drive.
Our puppy love has grown into a mature, selfless love since the day we wed in May 1997. I would say that was the second happiest day of my life, as the first was when Rob proposed to me at the marriage bench on the bluff. More happiest days of my life came with the births of our three children.
As a family, we are still growing in God’s love and practicing the Jesuit ideology of “cura personali." Thank you LMU for being the best second home a family could ever ask for. We love visiting even though we are back to the east coast. LMU is the most unique, special place, as we call it our own “heaven on the hill." Thank you LMU for the most amazing experience of my life!
